Introduction

In this multimedia project, the theme I will choose is an introduction to TRU campus life. On the one hand, through this project, new students can be introduced to TRU school facilities so that new students can integrate into TRU campus life as soon as possible. On the other hand, TRU has undergone some changes in the epidemic. Through this project, old students can be introduced to the changes in TRU.

In this project, TRU will be introduced to schools in several categories:

  1. The construction of campus facilities. In the project, the role and name of each building in the school will be introduced, especially the introduction of the new school building.
  2. The introduction of student services. There will be a special section in the project to introduce students to different student services and addresses.
  3. In this project, students will be introduced to the living facilities around the campus to facilitate the campus life of new students.

Rationale

When students come to an unfamiliar environment, they will feel uneasy and panic. They need a guide to help them familiarize themselves with the campus where they will live and study. On the other hand, many people are too late to attend the freshman meeting due to the epidemic. This guide can help them understand the campus very well. This project is more like a special preparation for TRU students. Students studying at TRU have to be familiar with the architecture and environment of the campus. When I came to TRU for the first time, I wished a project like this would help me get familiar with TRU.

Core angles/questions relevant to the topic

There are many problems in the project that need to be considered and explored:

  1. How to enumerate the school’s facilities?
  2. How to ensure accurate information (editing)?
  3. How to know students’ feedback on campus life?
  4. What should be included in interviews with students?

There are also some general story ideas or angles that might be included:

  1. Photos and text information of campus facilities.
  2. Photos and text information of student services.
  3. Interview student about student services.
  4. Photos and text information of living facilities.

Media Outline

  1.  Informative Text story w/photos: Text with photos can be an excellent introduction to the appearance and general location of the different buildings in the school. This will make it easier for students to get to know the campus.
  2. Audio Interviews: The project can use video interviews for interviewing students’ views and introductions to the school and life around the school.
  3.  Editorial Slideshow: When introducing school services, the website can introduce the different services and locations of the school to students one by one through slides show.
  4. Investigative Video: Both TRU and Kamloops have their official video introductions. These videos can be placed at the beginning of the project to strengthen the new students’ understanding of the school and Kamloops and strengthen the students’ trust in the project.
